The final business plan (2-3 August, 2006)
As promised the report of the last days that we worked on the Business Plan of our fiction companies.
In the time a was working on this report Tom placed some Dutch overview. I hope to go further in this report.
Her we go:
On Monday and Tuesday we worked a lot on the final business plan. The deadline was Tuesday 4 p.m. so this give some stress. Especially in creating a PDF and lay-out. On Monday we only worked, as mentioned in another post [WORK]. During lunch we went to our apartment and eat some hamburgers. In the evening we worked till 6 p.m. and had a very quick dinner. I think we eat some pasta. After a whole day of concentration and hard work we did some swimming and running in the SLC. But that was only for a very short time, because after the sport (8 o’clock) we were again in the Rogers Building to do corrections on the Business Plan (you can find the final version of our (Your-Order-Online) business plan here). We leaved Roger’s at 11 p.m. and on our way back we decided to jump into one of the library’s on campus. It is a huge building and on the top floor is a lot equipment to do music composition and editing. We searched there for some Belgiums books, but didn’t found them. Beside the music corner they have also a interesting movie en microfilm archive. I also find a paper perforator and that would be useful to make holes in all the papers I printed here (they say/think that I’m responsible for the empty paper tray of the printer in the lab). Some note: in America they have binders with 3 rings and also 3 holes in the paper. That’s again something different from Europe were we use 2 holes. At midnight the library closes and to make that clear there is a sound and light signal, all the lights turn of a few times. Good system for deaf and blind people!
On Tuesday it was the birthday of Koen. Before we start partying we finished the business plan and started on our presentation that we must give on Thursday. For lunch we went to Chilli’s. I tried there the “real” bear burger. And they have free mayonnaise of you ask for it. That all was great. But even greater was the birthday party of Koen and Daniele. Daniele celebrated his birthday on the day we were traveling to America. So this was the perfect moment to make a big party of it. The big party was at Hooters. For more information I will send you to there website. You will find out direct what there benefit is in comparison with other restaurants. (Or look to our pictures.)
After the great dinner and entertainment, we went to BestBuy and Books-a-Million. BestBuy is a great electronic shop were I get some headphones and Books-a-Million has a lot of interesting books and an integrated coffee shop were Ingo found a present. Ria drove us to all these shops and was a great support in choosing/discussing things. But Ria is not that best driver. In the way back home we drove a few times wrong and our harts stopped working when she wanted to drive in the wrong way (ghost driving). When we “safely” arrived at the apartments we had some “tea time” at the apartment of Diane and Ria. Toghether with some ice-cream (the real Blue Bell) and something to drink we talked about cows and calves (this is some sloppy translation, it means talk about everything and nothing).
In general Tuesday was a kind of free day with a lot of spare time.
On Wednesday all the stress was gone, only finishing the presentation and send the final prototype to Michael Aars. We also held some repetition of our presentation.
On Wednesday evening we were invited at the apartment of the girls. But because I wanted to do some sport we arrived there much to late, sorry for that! First there was some magic transaction of drop earrings and flour. They also had as a gift some powder to make pancakes (just add some water) and the towels we lend them on Sunday (do you know: the party at our apartment ended in the pool).
After dinner (that typically is taken in the salon and not on a table) there was desert (I forget what is was, I know there was jellow pudding). We finished with some upside-down and tower groups pictures. And before I forget, we also looked on the internet for some information about trains in Europe. Jessica and Emily will come to Spain and …
We mad it not to late and were at our apartment around 11:30 pm and went very quick to our beds, because on the next day we had the final presentation.
On thursday we stand up a little earlier to prepare us. We all dressed us up in Sunday clothes to make a good impression for the judge. At 9:05 am we started with our group Your Order Online and needed a little more time then expected. 20 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of questions. Then was it camOn, eye-XS and BIDIT easy. Between each group a break of 10 minutes and after the last group a large break were in we filed in an evaluation form. During this last break the judge decide for the winning group. Ok, I think everyone already knows who won so I can skip that. It is a little stupid to write this my self.
And then it was free time. Because this post is a little bit large, I will start a new one for the end of our travel.
